Worried about bass in case...

My Jackson's top tuning post digs straight into my hard case when I lay it in there. To prevent this I folded up a bandana and put it under the bass on the top part of the case's neck groove. I'll throw some pics in for clarification. I'm wondering if this is a bad idea? Is there a better option?

If the lid closes fine like that, no problem I can see.

I'd probably just turn the tuner flat since I'm gonna end up retuning it anyway.

+1 on detuning the string to lay more flat. I do this with a fender mustang bass and xxl guitar case its in.

I thought about that but I was worried the neck wouldn't have enough tension, especially because the strings are tuned BEAD. I just put more padding underneath the entire bass so it would sit even. It closes fine, so I guess I'm good. Thanks for the help though guys.
