Yep, I agree. And honestly I probably could. I don't use effects at all at church. Well, compression. The church bought the Stomp (one for bass, one for guitar) to accommodate multiple players - even though there's no plan for that at the moment. A tuner and Radial JDI would be just fine really. I do like compression so I guess the Stomp was a good way to go for church.

Reconfigured (again.....) and put together this small board from left-overs from my bigger board project. Simple.

Nothing wrong with having options. I've left my big board that I use at church alone for a while now, which is not the norm for me. I have a few pedals I'd like to try out (or try again) but I'm not even sure which board they would go on or what I would swap out. When my "big board" is a Duo 17 it doesn't leave a ton of room for much else, but I don't want a board any bigger than that. Now a leftover preamp with aux/headphone jack and a tuner sit on a little board just for practicing when I don't want to get anything else out.

I keep trying various configurations and have "finalized" my bigger board project many times in the past months. Anyhow, after the last shootout - and getting everything on-the-board (DI and volume pedal), the larger board now looks like this for this Sunday.

It's really pretty simple, as well.
The Octron seems like a great alternative to the bulky Bass Microsynth and is used on two of the songs this week.
The Subsonic is super handy, being used on 3 songs,
The dispatch master is a great intro ambient device, and
The dual DCX's replace the Tone Hammer and OD pedals. That DCX in EQ mode has the drive dial up pretty high and gets a nice Tone Hammer-ish saturation tone when digging in or using a pick.

Set List
There's Nothing That Our God Can't Do. Lots of driving bass pick/OD. Octron Big Hits in one chorus.
Ancient Gates. Simple and great ambient/subsonic opportunities.
I Believe. Lovely DCX console tone throughout.
The Blood. Working on those excellent bass fills. David Funk has a nice Youtube bass play-through for this song and breaks down the fills. Octron in last big bridge.

Thanks to @Erithon for getting me fixed up with some barefoot pedal toppers.

Eh, you don't have to check it out if you know what you want. Do you want the iconic distortion of a RAT? Get a RAT. Do you want the sound of an overdriven UA 610 console? Get a DCX Bass.
Of course, those are different sounds (raw and open versus tight and focused) so you should probably just have both on your board 🤣

That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about. I can't fit more pedals on the board so I'll HAVE to get a bigger board then fill it with even more pedals etc.

That's one of the reasons I went to the hx stomp at the beginning and then to the quad cortex. I can find a good sound and be happy indefinitely, but switch to different effects/amps/ etc… if/when I get bored.

I hear you. The irony is that I used to use a Stomp. (I still use it for EG) but I went to a mini pedalboard when I realized I had only been using the Tone Hammer or the other Aguilar sim for a couple of years.

So now that the Tech 21 XB Driver has finally been released, I am serious thinking about just moving my Cali76 Compact Bass, Aguilar Tone Hammer and Darkglass Vintage Microtubes and replacing them all with the Tech 21 unit. Anyone have any thoughts? Seems like a good idea in my head.

If you can get it before selling the other stuff it may be worth trying. I'm honestly skeptical about it replacing those three since they are IMHO best in class.
