Maybe I got a faulty one, because I ran several tests. Virtually the same settings and my Tone Hammer, Darkglass Infinity, Mother Preamp, Quad Cortex did not clip. I was running at 18V. I always run for higher voltage. I tried with my Dingwalls (passive and active) and Charvel PJ. Absolutely garbage in my opinion. I posted about this on the Subway thread and I think someone from Mesa is on that. They were blaming voltage, cables, gain staging. Which can be true, but I ran through a gamut of tests and I've been gain staging for over 25 years as a guitar player. I think I got the gist of it. I have other preamps I could've tried, but after 4 hours, I gave up.

Very possible you did get a faulty device it happens especially since it's mass produced. BTW I have a friend who bought one last Monday had a 3 night weekend gig in a 9k plus seat theater. He used compressor, Octave, preamp. But he stated that it preformed very well in his IEM setup FOH was very happy with the signal he sent downstream. He also said he plans to use it for gigs when he doesn't want to take his high end gear or for a fly gig setup.

I managed to pick up a BDDI v2 this week and took it to church to see what it was like through the system on Wednesday.Cant believe I have slept on this one for so long!
All in all I think I am quite impressed and certainly prefer it to the Origin Super Vintage and the Tonehammer DI.
The blend control is great, I think I liked it best on full but it works well at any setting, presence 11 o clock, drive at 11 o clock and the eq set fairly flat.
It is a big full sound with lots of definition and I am really looking forward to using it on Sunday!

I went down the Helix route at a similar time to you I believe but very quickly realised that I just wanted a very simple setup with little to no effects. I also prefer analog sound compared to digital. Having said that I bet the congregation can't tell what I am using!

I have been playing around with theBDDI blend control at home through my in ears and it really is a very powerful tool. I think 9 o clock is quite a nice full range sound with a good growl. Am not a big fan of too much presence, it make the sound very clanky… not my thing. Am running that at zero at the moment.

I never liked the cranky presence either. I think that's why I never really got into a SansAmp, even though I tried a couple times.

It can be dialed out, and a lot easier on V2 compared to V1 from memory. I think it is quite a versatile pedal actually if you have the patience to experiment. Not sure if it will stay at this point but certainly a nice toy to play with.

Pedalboard for this weekend, running the SFT as a low gain fuzz if there is such a thing. Might need to explore other options! Also need to look out for a small sized modulation pedal to swap out the red witch, so I can add more pedals in really!

Has anyone opted for the Mantle over the Noble? I used to be church staff and had access to just about every high end piece of gear that was available pre Covid. We didn't see what the big deal was behind the Noble and we collectively agreed as worship staff that the Reddi was the best choice for our campuses.

There's been many new DI options to hit the market since then and now I'm starting to get back into playing CCW I'm interested in what you are doing with your DI. Mantle looks simple, solid and maybe a bit based off a Noble concept but the Origin stuff seems popular as well. TIA!

That's where I ended up. It wasn't so much one over the other but a few pieces moving around that led to me keeping the Mantle and moving the Noble on.

TL/DR: one isn't better or worse just different. The Mantle's tone, simplicity, and size made it my go to and bumped a couple others I have loved for years.

Where I lead worship there is a Jule Simone pre for bass so I actually don't bring a di to church gigs but use some on all of my other gigs.

The JHS punchline was my go to on a pedaltrain metro that fits in my motorcycle pannier. I had the noble on and powering a Temple Audio solo 18. So based on backline I'd use these two for gigs.

Cut to the chase, I loved the Punchline especially to make dead or sterile sounding backline amps sound good. But on a bunch of gigs I ended up just using the comp or EQ and more often fighting it. The Mantle was so stupidly simple to tweak backline or just sweeten the overall signal that it made the Noble and Punchline seem excessive.

I put the Mantle on the metro and don't even use the Temple 18 at the moment. I plan to re-build that board with a second b-stock Mantle I got on a crazy sale.

So while not better per se, the simplicity and tone of the mantle worked well enough for me to move on from the other two DI / pre amps that I had been using for years.

Own and Noble and have tried the Mantle. They are not based on each other really at all.

Noble softens your attack and compresses a little but no gain increase.

The Mantle eq and gain does a lot more but is a cleaner more fast attack tone. I LOVED the treble cut on the mantle.

I will keep my stomp for the few effects I use, and for compression - even though it isn't the best. I do struggle with which di to get. I loved my reddi but I'd like something that would work with my amp as well as my di gigs.

My favorite thing about the SushiBox Finally is the flexibility. You can bypass the preamp for the 1/4" out.

So you can always send the tube signal from the XLR to FOH, and toggle the 1/4 as needed. Each output has independent volume controls. And the current version comes with a solid variable HPF as a cherry on top.

How do you strap your bass down on your motorcycle?

I wear it in a gig bag on my back. Wind resistance can be a pain, but I often play short scales and those gig bags don't stick out as badly.

I see. I've been thinking of a way to strap it down safe and dumb down my board to fit in my backpack.

I always wanted to rig something up to get my bass off my back using one side of my pannier mounts. Unfortunately, my current daily rider right now is a smaller Triumph with the ability to mount hardware on only the left side. So, the bass ends up on my back and works well enough. I kind of swing back and forth gig wise and either have an 8x10 in my truck, or ampless in-ears on my bike with a bass on my back. Not a lot of in-between, so the metro board works great because it lives in the pannier or the truck's side tool box. Either way I am good to go and the Mantle has made that more possible than my Noble board did.

I just got my SFT out of a box, it need a repair but funny timing.
