PBS is the worst because I pay for them to spout their one-sided crap! At least CNN (on one side) and Fox News (on the other) pay their own way.
I'd say Fox gives more airtime to the liberal POV than CNN et al give to conservatives, so Fox is "more fair", but yeah, they all have their own agendas.
I just don't like paying for it as I do with PBS.

You don't buy products and services? Part of the cost is advertising, which pays for the news.

If you do, you're paying for CNN, FOX, ABC, and everything else. At least with PBS the loyalty is (theoretically) to the American people, and not the pursuit of profit. Who knows what influence is held by corporations whose advertising pays for your "free" channels.

No programming is free. You just pay for it in different ways.

I find it interesting that the most "liberal" (CNN) and "conservative" (FOX) networks are neck-and-neck for the title.

I voted for FOX because of its lack of accuracy, conservative-tilted stories, and tendency to play on people's emotions rather than deliver straightforward facts. However, they don't always do this, which makes it mildly bearable. :smug:

Despite my generally liberal perspective on life, I sometimes will watch Fox News at 10:00pm and then another more liberal station (usually CNN or NBC) at 11:00pm, and I compliment both with internet news sources during my spare time. On big stories, you can see the contrasting viewpoints and information provided, and watching both can be quite the eye-opener sometimes. It can also sometimes show how frighteningly similar these stations can be, since they often use the same sources and regurgitate what they've been told.

CNN... I occassionally tune in, and I was surprised at just HOW biased they are. It was almost like watching a paid political advertisement.

I get most of my news from a WIDE variety of sources on the internet, usually linked from other discussion forums. Sometimes find out about things hours before they're on the other sites or on the news.

hmmm... 5 liberal networks in this poll to absorb the votes of conservatives agaisnt one semi conservative (balanced) network to get all the votes of the liberals as being the worst. I wonder how it will turn out?
:hiding:

PMSNBC should have their own special category. Obermen! Ugh! I think more people watch infomercials then this guy. And Chris Matthew's now has officially stolen the title of most arrogant commentator from O'riely.

PBS within their news hour isn't bad, but you can count on their documentaries to be exceptionally tilted. Fox is pretty much the same way, their news shows are fair, but their commentary is tilted. The others are tilted demonstrably on every issue in their news broadcasts, and their "news" is indistinguishable from their "commentary to the point where they should be counted a campaign commercials. CNN is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the one political party, and doesn't have a "balenced" bone in their body, and I wouldn't watch them while sitting on the John, not worth it.:p

I only get News from the BBC and only trust them - anything else I take with a pinch of salt! :hmm:

Paid for out of public funds - no sponsor or advertisers to keep happy and guaranteed independent of the government by public charter - in fact very scathing about the government!! :)

The problem is (not just on Fox) there's no longer an identifiable line between the two.
The difference between Fox and the others is, only they make the claim of being "fair and balanced", and they make it every five minutes. Reminds me of an old saying, "if you have to tell the world how good you are, you're probably not that good."

So if you don't make the claim, is it Ok to run campaign commercials for one side disguised as specials?, and get all your questions for interviews from one side, and still call yourself a news network? I guess the N in CNN no longer stands for news. Not that it ever did. One of the reasons I believe the networks are so anti-Fox, is for years they have had a monopoly on information, and spewing out their misinformation without any accountability.

After the recent state of the war address I checked in on CNN, MSNBC and Fox to see what the spin machines were saying about a speech I had just witnessed myself.
CNN had a few crusty old talking heads discussing mostly the presentation and not the content.

MSNBC had Olberman, Russert, Chris Mathews, and Scarborough in a 4 way split screen all saying basically the same thing and harumphing a bit.

Fox had their own panel of similar cronies all saying the same thing, but had also put up a "Where's Their Plan?" clock counting up in one corner of the screen.

After a few minutes of flipping around between that nonsense, I swore off cable news other than CSPAN for good. Unless I'm up early enough and Imus has a good musical guest, they are all dead to me.

As far as a the poll, I voted Fox solely on the tastelessness of the clock thing. All three were so EFFING awful, but that ticker was just so childish. I can't imagine what horrifically skewed thought process would think that was a good idea to the point of actually going through with it.

I do still catch meet the press once in a while, but since Brinkley retired even the weekend talking head shows are just full of partisan nonsense and nauseatingly dodged questions.
