a legitimate form of argument

Oh, you mean lucid statements like these?

Fox makes me throw up in my mouth.

"Will the Democrats Eat Your Children?"

or maybe these;

i was glad to see the general distaste for fox news.... but will avoid getting into it

consists of blowhards spewing their opinions

Irony ++

and finally this gem:

FOX can fellate Bush all they want.

Those cogent, well-thought-out arguments? The post got exactly the consideration and response it deserved.

What never ceases to amaze me is how close-minded liberals actually are. 6 pages of hate directed at a network that doesn't tow the Democrat party line! If that's not enough evidence for you nothing will be.

You know, I don't care what line these stations tow. But any station that defends a complete moron's every action, consistently gets facts wrong and then fails to admit their mistakes, urges American's to blindly support the war, and uses headlines in their programs like "Far-Left Lunatics" will not be getting a minute of my time.

EDIT: For the record, while the "Eat Your Children" line was a joke, the "Lunatic" headline was real.

If those who support the war are doing so blindly, then you're just as guilty of blindly being against it. If anyone bases their opinion on the war because of any form of media, then they're just as blind. I have brothers and sisters, both figurative and literally, on the ground there and they're reporting mostly the opposite of what the media is reporting.

I wish these people would make up their minds.

Supposedly, he's a moron.
But he seems to outmaneuver them at almost every turn.
Then all of a sudden he's a criminal mastermind that has been able to spin and decieve almost every nation's intelligence agency, while being able to pull the wool over everyones' eyes, even 'the smartest woman in America'.
All while using Haliburton's Hurricane Machine to steer Katrina into New Orleans.

It's kind of funny.

I think you might be unintentionally twisting my words. I didn't say everyone who supports the war is doing so blindly. But FOX tries to convince non-supporters to. I should've been more clear. I quote FOX: "Its [sic] our duty as loyal Americans to shut-up once the fighting begins".

I've based my opinion of the war on my own beliefs, and don't need any network to tell me what my opinion should be.

Actually, because of that, I'm pretty sure I agree with what you're saying.

We did get to the same point in a round about way. But I still hold the belief that for years way before Fox, the other networks were doing the same things people accuse Fox of doing. The only difference is that it's all out in the open now because of such fierce competition from other sources. Every network tries to sway viewers to a point of view. That's why there is no such thing as journalism anymore. They've become part of the news instead of reporting the news. They try to slant the news with polls and commentary instead of reporting the FACTS. I have no problem with commentary or opinion as long as it's stated as such. All news organizations have become parodies of themselves and of journalism as a whole.

You're 17,shouldn't you be watching MTV?:D

When it comes to local news, I enjoy my local CBS. Why? One of my college professors happens to be a reporter for our local affiliate, and it's cool knowing the guy who teaches my class has 13 emmys and an edward r murrow award to his credit.

National news, I usually watch CNN.

i can understand the back and forth bashing from conservatives to liberals and such, but i dont understand how anyone can deffend bush or iraq still...worst blunder in modern foreign policy history, and time will show, quite possibly the worst president atleast in the last 50 years if nto ever...what has he done that has at all positively affected this country??

Very true, It's amazing. they've controlled the information for so long. And now with the internet, and Fox, all of the sudden their (sic) mad because they don't have a monopoly anymore.

Unless you severely change the definition of "monopoly," you can't have one with three, five, or however many entities that are in competition with each other.

One network with no competition would be a monopoly; several in competition are not.
