Worth repainting Fender jazz?

I saw your post after I put mine in. I thought I was going to be hip and with it until I realized that my grain was horribly matched.

I also swapped out the pickups and neck on my highway. I think the only original parts are the bridge, the pickguard screws, and the body. Maybe the strap buttons.

I'll buy a Fender Highway one jazz bass. Everything is nice, except the colour. It's sunburst. I don't like it and it doesn't go with my style (rock).
Tell me, do you think it is worth repainting it?

If it's really what you want then yeah, it's worth repainting it. I don't think it'll hurt resale value as long as it's refinished nicely & the color(s) isn't too out there. I'd only go for a refinish if I absolutely could not find the color I wanted.

So how does refinishing a relatively new bass devalue it, especially is it's done nicely and looks good? Is it based on what refinishing would mean to a vintage bass?

I want to refinish my AmDlx Jazz, I'm not really fond of the transparent crimson.

First of all, I wouldnt refinish it myself, I would give it to a professional
Secondly, I know sunburst is old school rock colour, but I'm more into white or red, it's just my personal taste. Also I wouldn't die if I would have a sunburst bass xD

Most people are against refinishing it, so I probably wont do it (I am not some newb, but I always listen to people with more experience). Also changing pickguard colour isn't a bad idea, black would fit much better with sunburst

Sunurst doesnt work with rock music? Since when? Been a common colour choice for rock musicians for at least 3 decades now.

Anyway, no imo, it isnt worth it since theyre are other fender basses available in other colors you like better.

I just put a black pickguard on my sunburst P Bass. I think it looks much better Don't let others discourage you from getting your bass refinished if that's what you really want.

Are you a lefty? If so I could understand. I was thinking of refinishing my sunburst to white since fender will only make black or sunburst lefty. Otherwise I would try to trade it.
