Would bass pedals work on guitar and vice versa?

I use a number of pedals in both applications.

A darkglass VMT is killer on guitar. And a tube screamer - especially when modded to have extended bass - can sound amazing on bass. Phase and modulation tend to be pretty flexible as is delay. It's more fuzz and OD than can be touchy and there it's about voicing and whether you think it works for your sound. And no you can't harm them.

I strongly suspect that the only difference between some manufacturers' "guitar" pedals and "bass" pedals is in the words printed on the housing.

Yes, they would work. However, I don't know why you would want to unless it was for monetary reasons

I never found an overdrive I liked until I stopped limiting myself to "bass" overdrives. Then I found the Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive, and I couldn't be happier.

Can it harm other equipment?

Not specifically because you're using a guitar pedal with bass or vice versa. Some effects pedals can potentially harm amps or speakers if misused. But that's even if you're using "bass" pedals with bass or "guitar" pedals with guitar. Watch your level settings with dirt pedals (they shouldn't be twice as loud when engaged), and be careful of resonant peaks with envelope filters.

What is a good OD/Fuzz pedal that has the darkglass sound that sounds good on both guitar and bass?

VMT is one, can you name any more?

I don't own it but I've seen a demo of the Darkglass Duality that sounded fantastic on guitar.

I have used and love my Darkglass Duality in guitar and have also used my b7k successfully with guitar. Someone in the Darkglass club reported using a VMT deluxe as a pre-amp for acoustic guitar.
