(btw, im rose_of_sharyn)

Ok update here:

I went to guitarcenter and to my surprise the bass I wanted was still there, spector rebop 5 , and after I traded in my pretty beat up mim fender jazz bass 5 string with high action none the less, they only wanted about $350 for it!!! This is what it looks like (found these images on ebay)

thanks, I love it too, wish i had pictures of my actual one, but that is dead on, only on my headstock it isnt missing where it says Spector like it shows in that picture.

And I got it for such a great price, on spectors website this was going for a little over a grand I think.

Stop ! hold the phone!!

GC has a 30 day layaway policy , see what you can beat them down on it , give 'em 10% and sell your stuff here .

I have stopped ebaying and have good luck here and a lot less hassle and zero problems.

You will get beat to hell if you trade in there , patience man.

I took a rig I had $1300 into and they offered me a 1/4 of that on a trade.

I have talked to them (locally)and they will basically give you 25% of it's current value.

A good strategy.

Just for an example. I brought two basses into GC to see what they would trade me. They told me that I could trade both for a 600 bass. I walked away and sold both basses for over 1200.

They hide behind the 'book' value. They even show you a copy of it to 'prove' that they're giving you a good trade. I would urge you to sell on your own.

In the end, they do have to make a profit on it, so you can't really blame them, but I just wish they were up front about that and not insult my intelligence.

Oh, and I also wish that they'd stop marking parts basses as 'Vintage Fenders.' But that's a whole other thread.
