Okay, right now its late, so I've got crazy ideas going through my head. Let me know if this seems like a good idea.
Right now, I've got a Fender Precision Deluxe, which I actually really like, but the problem with it, is it sounds very similar to my warmoth jazz. It may be that there both 3 band eqs and active, but they just sound like they get similar tones. So, since my warmoth means alot more to me, and is a nicer bass (imo) this is why the fender is potentially on the block.
Current situation with the fender: I want it to sound like "the precision." It's not... It sounds like a active precision, but it can be very mellow when the pickups are panned right and bass is added right. The electronics are not my favorite personally, I just don't really like fender eqs. So i was going to replace the eq with a Audere preamp (an estimated 220 dollars for what I want to do there). So heres my dilema... Do I throw money into this bass in hopeing that it'll get the P tone, or do I just get over it and move onto what I have gas for? I figure if I sold it I could hopefully get 800-900 for it. And that'd be 1100 (hopefully) if we include the money I woulda spent on it. And if I could find a used dingwall- I could afford it (most likely), or save up another 300 and get a new one.
I may just be thinking crazy, and be looking at the dingwall site to much. One other thing- I've never played a dingwall. Only heard on bass tasters. But in all honesty I wasn't THAT impressed with anything on that site. (except the MTD 535, but I know I'm not that patient to get that money) I have a flea, and the flea sounds like crap on his site, and I feel it sounds great. He's probably just eq'd it flat...
So what I'm asking- ditch the precision, and get a dingwall? Or stick to the precision and hope the audere helps.
