Would this look funny in a different forum?

Is it just me or do we often see threads that are essentially the same thing as this:

I've never played an instrument before, but I'd like to play bass in a band and do some shows next month. Not Carnegie Hall or anything, just some local clubs. What do I need to buy to do this? I don't want to spend more than 50 bucks, but I could go as high as 100. Also, I don't have the time or inclination to learn anything hard, are there any basses that would allow me to play a show without learning anything first?

If such a question was posted in the basses section of this forum most would agree that the expectation of quality results with almost no investment of money, time, or effort is unrealistic. Why is the subject of recording treated in a different manner?

Beginners of all pursuits generally have unreasonable expectations of success without time or sweat. Unfortunately, one of life's undeniable lessons is -- there are no shortcuts to being 'good.'

What is all that stuff listed in your profile? Borrow a MIDI keyboard play bass on it. Your sound will be bigger, even and the pitch wheel will be your friend.

A bit of advise when playing bass parts live on any instrument. If you screw up don't drop your volume like many do. The whole bottom falls out of the sound and everyone knows why. Just keep going, bad bottom is better than no bottom. Wrong, but Strong!

It appears my analogy was made in too subtle of a manner. I will edit the original post to clarify.

I don't think it is. Noob's are noobs no matter what the endeavor and are cut slack because they are learning. Also recording unlike playing has a lot has to do with getting access to good gear. Not everyone can buy high end gear or get access to it. But that same person may take the time to really learn what they have inside out and do some amazing work. Also some people underestimate what it takes to play bass or record and shoot there mouth off, people will allow them to crash and burn. Afterwards they will either adjust their attitude and learn or move on to something else like drums. That is not meant to insult drummers they know everyone thinks they can pickup a set of stick and play.

Most of the posters in this forum would get cut to ribbons or ignored altogether in a serious audio recording forum. There is indeed no shortcut to having experience and using the search engine.
