I have a fantastic doublebass with the Wilson K4 on it. This sounds good and it is especially easy to use, since it's pretty feedback resistant. Then I have another bass with no pickup system or whatever, but it's a bass I can easily leave in the rehearsal room (I wouldn't dare with the other one). Since one needs a more acoustic sound and one needs sound at all, I thought about killing two birds with one stone.
That stone could be a clamp mic, which I could easily put on both basses within a minute:
Invalid Link Removed. It is cheap and made for wind instruments. But it's dynamic and hypercardioid... is this too bad for upright?
The same mic exists also in a TG i52c (c meaning condencer) edition. That one is cardioid.
Is this a completely stupid idea? With the cheap bass I would use it for rehearsals, but with the expensive one (with the Wilson) I'd use it for gigs. Bass response isn't that important with the mic, because I will combine both with the AI Clarus 2r.
Is there any other cheap way to mic the bass? At first I thought about an H-Clamp, but these things cost more than those clip mics. I'm not a very still-standing-typ-a-guy and therefore the mic needs to be fixed...
