hey guys. so , i finally have my first rig though i am thinking of getting a 4x10.

i like the bottom of the 1x15 but maybe i need that highs from the 10"s.

if u had a 1x15, would u move to the 4x10?

both, volume and definition to be considered.

i own a Trace Elliot AH350SMX head and a new 1518 cab ( 500W )

what would u do?

I moved from 1x15 to 4x10 a while ago. Of course, the "full stack" is a 410 with a 115 on the bottom which is a whole cart load and way too much for most of the bar gigs I do.

The 410 design is more articulate and will be heard through the band mix better. Therefore, it will seem louder.

I have since moved to a Schroeder 1210R which is a 12 front firing and a 10 inch angled and a tweeter. Seems to be the perfect mix in one small cab.

Many 410 cabs will go deeper than 15s, especially modern cabs.

The only advantage to a 115 that I see is size and weight. In every other area, a 410 will generally be better.

Of course, you'll have to try out some 410 cabs to find one whose tone you like.

well... if u look to the Trace 1518 specs u'll see it's not small at all. it's the SAME dimensions as the 1048.

i do the believe though, that the 4x10 will give u a wider range of sound.

i will not move often with it.just leave it in the church and maybe some gigs i get ( church ones.... )

If you can, keep your 15" for the right situations....like rehearsals, smaller gigs, etc. Even as a practice speaker...you only need to move your amp to your personal practice spot, and can leave the 410 where a band rehearses, or in the garage//storage etc.

I recommend the Eden 410XLT. It can put out plenty of low end....and more volume than the Bage End 15" I used to have.

thanks for the input.

even if i am in Spain, there is a bad market over here. u can't find much and if u do find something, it will be VERY , VERY expensive.

my cab ( the TE 1518 ) for eg. is somewhere between 785 and 1,052.31 USD new.

so , u get the ideea.

things like, eden, epifani, markbass, are hardcore expensive.so, what i am watching right now is the used market. i'd love a 1048 TE. i am thinking of getting 631 € for mine and in that price range, search for something .

i so want to live over there!!!!

Ampeg 410HLF or 410HE. I have a stack with a 4x8 Ampeg and a 1x15 Ampeg and a 120W full-tube Sound City as the amp. It kicks ass!
I tried the Ashdown ABM 410 yesterday and it actually dissapointed me. I tried it with one of Asdhowns heads and a Fender Jazz. It was like the sound was in that cab and just there. It didn't get out, if you know what I mean. I'd definitely go with a new/used Ampeg 4x10 instead.

I moved in the opposite direction. I run an SVT4 and went from the aforementioned 410 (i think it was HLF it had the 3 big ports in the bottom which I thought sounded too boomy) to another ampeg cab that has a 15 and a committed mid range 8 in it. It's the cab from the B3158 (rare combo) that I just took the head out of and I'm not sure I'll need another set up for a LONG time. Has back wheels and recessed side handles and a handle on the top, easy to move, not very heavy. It's like heaven...only real.

15" and 10" drivers have no specific sound; they differ from model to model. 115s don't neccessarily have a lot of bass and 410s don't always have a good high end.

That said, nowadays I'd go for a 115. Specifically a Barefaced bass Big One. Output similar to that of a 115 and it has a 6.5" speaker to handle just mids and highs. Alex will sell to Spain as well, which is a plus if like the UK, Spain also either lacks some of the excellent American products or has them at rediculous prices. The Big One is a bargain.

If you don't have the money for a Big One go for a Compact. It's win-win really.

My gig rig went from 6 10's to 2 15's, and the difference is night/day. Much fuller, rounder tone now, and every bit as loud. I'd suggest keeping your 15, and adding either another 15, or a 210, as suggested above.

+1....
I recently was forced to go back to using 15" speakers.
I'm lovin' it! Forgot what it was like to rule the stage and project out into the room without needing P.A. support!
The newest G.B. catalog says it pretty well about 15 " speakers.
"The response is smooth, round and full, like ONLY a 15" driver can produce."
I'm with RickenB, try two 1-15 cabs.
