Would you rather have a 4, 5, or 6 string bass, and why?

Never needed a 5th string so far, and never will. Probably 90% of the songs on my iPod feature 4-string basses.

I was just pondering this question, I know the reason most people choose one or the other, but why specifically do you choose one over the other?
What drew you to one? or what made you switch to another?
Me personally I have one 4 string and one 5 string, so I can have the best of both worlds.
I liked the 6 string, but it was not comfortable at all for me.
I like the idea of having 7, or 12 strings, but nothing I would use as my main performer.

I played a 4string for years,then decided to try a five. Now I am converted to 5strings. I have never played a 6 string...I am not that talented. I play Country and the low b gives me a lot of extra low notes. I am ordering a 5 string next month...I will probably never go back to a 4.

5 for me. We seem to do quite a few tunes in Eb. It's just what I'm most comfortable on too. I'd love to try a 6, but it'd be for my own amusement rather than necessary for my gigs.

I voted 5 Because of the extra range and it just feels more comfortable to me. Narrow necks are difficult for me because my Fretting hand tends to cramp up. Wider necks not so much up to a point. Like the Ibanez BTB;s with the very wide fretboards. Those I have difficulty with because of short fingers.

I started on a 4-string because it's the most difficult one. If I can play on that, I can play on anything.
I'd like to have a 6-string to fool around, though. Now I also have a 5-string by some sort of coincidence. I'm not sure it's a good thing that early, but I'll manage.
