Would you recommend the Epiphone Thunderbird IV?

I realize I'm chiming in a bit late here... but I recently bought a used Epi T-bird just cuz it was cheap and I thought it looked cool. I figured... ah what the heck... its another bass for the collection... but it turns out I actually like it a lot. I've been doing some mods to it and it may actually become one of my "go to" basses. Who knew?

I've really liked most of the Epi birds I've played. I'd have purchased one already if I wasn't holding out for a Gibson.

FINALLY!! Someone with some sense. Wait for a used Gibson at a good price (see them down around $700 used nowadays).

BEST decision ever. Its a million times more awesome than anything else.

thunderbird is a great bass but the epi wont sound good for your style of music, the epi pro might be better for your tone.

I tried one recently, and it was the most unballanced, neckdiving mess that I'd ever played. I wasn't impressed with the sound either.

I'm not mad about the Standard personally,but I was blown away by how good the neck of the Pro was.

If you are new to playing a bass? No, I wouldn't really recommend a T-Bird of any description. I do have two of them, but mine are Gibsons (Epiphone doesn't do lefty basses). You'll have enough to deal with, just learning how much different a bass a bass is from a guitar, to deal with how different a T-Bird is, too. Same with any other "unique" bass. Get something decent and more "mainstream" to begin with, would be my advice. You can always do "unique" later...
