Would you trade this Jazz bass for this Bongo?

I love jazz basses but I also have more need for a 5 string than a 4. It all depends on what you like tone wise and what meets your needs as a player. I've never heard anything negative about Bongos except that they look like toilet seats and their string spacing is a bit narrow for some but from those who like them I hear wonderful things. If you can get by those 2 little details then I'd go for it.

Actually, if you pan a bit to the front pickup, decrease the low mids and add some treble, you can get kind of a jazzish sound from the Bongo. In this view I would say you are not really losing anything by trading your Jazz. The 5-string spacing on the Bongo is not too wide and the neck is not too thick.
What it really comes down to is this: The Bongo CAN sound just like the Jazz (if/when you want it to). No Jazz (stock) can EVER sound like a Bongo at it's best. Hope the Bongo's owner doesn't see this thread before you can make the deal...
The fact that you're even considering this trade makes me think you're not getting what you want out of the Jazz, so I think the answer is clear, try out the Bongo.
'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say', in my particular case I don't like the look of the Bongo although it probably sounds great and has some really good reviews.
As has already been said there must be something you feel is lacking in the Jazz that is making you GAS for the Bongo and the GAS probably won't go away until you get one!
I feel if you get rid of the Jazz, in a couple of years time you will looking for another one to replace it!

Bongo, by far. They are the best bass value on the market, bar none. Mine goes with me to EVERY gig. I traded a Zon Sonus for one, I had 2 Zons though
