Request Wouldn't It Be Nice by The Beach Boys

So I'm working on this song for keys and then bass.

I have it nailed all the way through except for one part.

The chorus :-

"Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray"'....

My tabs for this part go: (Key of C)

Line one:- A7M D7M C#m7 F#m7 (Maybe if...)

Line two:- A7M D7M C#m7 F#m7 (Maybe then there..)

Line three:- C#m7 F#m7 (We could be married (we could be married)

Line four : ( and then we'd be happy (and then we'd be HAPPY..)

The highlighted HAPPY is where they do that sudden chord drop-down....on my tabsheet it shows it as G7 and then ends on C for "Oh wouldn't it be nice....)

BUT......the G7 doesn't sound right......

What is the correct chord or progression for that?

I play the song in C but I think the original key was F. Tried it in F too..still can't get that part to sound right.

Thanks for any help...

I would say that G7 in your case is close but no champagne, and here is why (only my opinion.)
I think we have some chords that belong to the Sus family.
Try playing the following combinations/variations of G sus chords.
First two beats:
Bass - G , right hand piano (going up)- F A B E
Second two beats:
Bass - G and right hand piano (going up) - F A C D.
