I respect and admire John Lennnon and Pete Townsend. They say they were influenced by Link Wray, the godfather of bar cords and distortion.

Peter Green assembled a great band. Mick Fleetwood is maybe even better than Vinnie, who played for Zappa when the other gy quit. Bob Weir, he wrote some incrediable songs.
I have always favored Bass players, they were the most down-to-earth people I have known. In Phoenix, it was my bass player who connected us up with a guy named Steve, traveling to LA, but did a show in Tempe on the way. Maybe about 10K people.
I am an old guitar player that started on drums, owned a bass that my bass player played on all of our recordings.
I am asking one simple question.
Who is the most influential Bass player in your lives.
I have sold off the mod'ed Marshall and about 60 guitars.
I am ready for Bass now. It is the backbone. That I understand. What I don't know is what has motivated you.
any help now??? (on topic of course) Whos is the best Bass player, Why, and how did they affect your music.
If this is so way off topic, then close it like my last thread, so that I can't get. You know what, I can find motivated people, like a certain Bass player who backs Joe Stump (teacher at Berklee for guitar) and buy lessons. I just want to know, because I am a stupid guitarist, who is ignorant of the backbone.

Zzeon (Mark or Eddie), I answer to both. Check out some of the stuff I recorded on video to understand who the players were locally, and hoping to get a serious discussion going with.
But as we all know, when 2 AM comes around (4 in NY), it's time to haul everything back to rehersal space.
So, it is within respect that I value everyones input.
If none of this makes sense, then maybe in the wrong meeting.

so many posts... on do you talk guitarists... I am only asking cause I am trying to learn.
My best friend can play any instrument, and he told me John Bonham (sp?) played a lot of the guitar parts.
To ME the BASS is the BACKBONE.

The only thing I got out of this was " is the most influential Bass player in your lives." Even that 'question' doesn't have a question mark on it, and that's the one sentence I could grasp.
That would probably be Jack Bruce. To everything else, I respond with "Huh?"
For a minute I thought I was drunk or something because I had no freaking idea what is going on in this thread. Good to know I'm not alone.
Just because you're drunk at 10:00 in the morning doesn't mean that you'd understand it if you were sober!
You are getting upset because we cannot understand the meaning of this post? Have you read it aloud to yourself? Not being a jerk but this thread thus far has no meaning.
