Wow... that seems sad that nobody played it since then. Why would anyone put such a beautiful bass through such torture?

Good point. While I'd love to own her, she would not hang on my wall unplayed. ALL of my basses get played AND gigged. So she would also be subjected to beer, smoke, etc... ;) :p :D

Awesome looking bass. I'd go for something that was played though if I had the cash. I'd feel bad about mucking up a museum item. :D

That said. If that's the original strap. I can't believe fender has been shelling out those ugly POS straps for that long! I thought it was a newer thing when I bought my P-Bass back in '01. I guess not. I don't think I used that strap a day since I bought the bass.

  4. Same here. I sure don't want a bass that would just hang on the wall in the family room.

I had three of them. I tried to give them to the local shop and he turned me down saying he already had several that didn't sell. I wound up keeping two and gave one away.

you have to take that AD in 2 respects:

is it worth the risk of damaging it due to it's rarity?

most "collectors" will keep something like that under glass, as they believe it truly is a collectors item, not a gigging bass.

a bass that is uber-rare that just gets put on stage just to "SHOW" people what you have is not my first option.

generally people with 5grand plus to toss on a item, they have more than enough other basses to gig with.
