Awesome looking bass. I'd go for something that was played though if I had the cash. I'd feel bad about mucking up a museum item. :D

That said. If that's the original strap. I can't believe fender has been shelling out those ugly POS straps for that long! I thought it was a newer thing when I bought my P-Bass back in '01. I guess not. I don't think I used that strap a day since I bought the bass.

Same here. I sure don't want a bass that would just hang on the wall in the family room.

I had three of them. I tried to give them to the local shop and he turned me down saying he already had several that didn't sell. I wound up keeping two and gave one away.
 
you have to take that AD in 2 respects:

is it worth the risk of damaging it due to it's rarity?

most "collectors" will keep something like that under glass, as they believe it truly is a collectors item, not a gigging bass.

a bass that is uber-rare that just gets put on stage just to "SHOW" people what you have is not my first option.

generally people with 5grand plus to toss on a item, they have more than enough other basses to gig with.
