Of my pool owners in the house, who uses a robotic vacuum? I mean the actual self-contained robots that don't rely on the pool's filtration system. For the past five years or so I had a Dolphin Nautilus Pro that worked well up until a few weeks ago when the pump motor crapped out. Because it was older, I decided to just replace it than repair it. So I started on my quest of research. I came across a number of cordless, rechargeable ones that actually seem to rate pretty well. That surprised me, as I'd imagine them to be pretty inefficient, with powering the wheels and the impeller motor. I had zero desire to buy a cordless one. BUT, I kept coming back to this one robot: The Wybot S2 Pro. It got great reviews pretty much across the board so I decided to roll the dice. Figure worst case scenario was if it sucked (or... since it's a vacuum, DIDN'T suck), I could just return it.
I've had it for almost a week now. I've ran it three times (it's monsoon season in Phoenix, so the pool has been crapped up almost daily

) and I can say this thing kicks some serious ayss! It handles big crap like leaves as well as sand/dust/mud from all our dust storms really, REALLY well. I get about 2.5 hours out of a full charge. I have an 18x35 diving pool with a PebbleTec finish, and it handles my pool well, with great coverage, overall. It climbs the walls with ease, and does a good job on the waterline. The phone app is pretty programmable. You tell it what kid of pool you have (shape, depth, type of lining, etc.) and also if you want to clean just the floor, just the walls, just the waterline, or any combination of them. The main filter basket is a breeze to clean, unlike the Dolphin's crappy design, and there's also a secondary fine filter with two different elements to choose from. or you could leave the fine one out entirely if you are just looking to pick up bigger stuff like leaves and course sand.
Gotta say, if you're in the market, give this guy some consideration. It's a really great unit. And nope, I wasn't paid by them to say any of this crap, and I bought the thing with my own money, and have zero stake in any game. Just giving a shout out to a robot that I didn't have super high hopes for.
