Xbox 360 vs PS3 VS Wii - Why?

Well I already have a 360 and its pretty good, not the best though. But the games on it are really fun. And i'm getting the Wii for xmas for the sole reason that it is cheaper than the ps3. As for what will be the best? As for right now I don't know as I haven't played the Wii. It seems like one of those ideas that will either be really good or really bad. I don't think it will be inbetween. So until I get the Wii and see for myself I have no idea which one i will like the best.

There are both wired and wireless controllers available for the XBOX 360. Wii controllers are wireless by default. As for the PS3... not sure.

In regards to the OP... I'll get a Wii next year (maybe for Christmas if my mom feels sorry for me, the poor college student ).

I would get an XBOX 360 too, but... my brother's had one since early this year

On an off-topic note... Gears of War for the XBOX 360 rocks! My brother got it last weekend, and it's awesome both online and offline. If you're into shooters and plan on getting a 360, be sure to get a copy of that game, too!

Between this, Gears of War, and Halo 3, I think I now have a reason to buy an Xbox 360.

360. It drew me in with Oblivion, Halo 3 is too good to miss and there are loads of great games out now and upcoming. I'm hesistant about the Wii. It has some pretty weak starting titles. Another Monkey Ball? How about some innovation for once? Wario Ware Smooth Moves? Get real. Another lightweight Mario and Metroid game? "Git tae ****."

Red Steel looks mildy innovative, but the graphics look pretty damn lame. Oh, and they've got a Rayman game coming out. God, please help us. The game everyone is talking about is Zelda. Not another instalment of that dreary, overrated series Nintendo have been getting it in the sack for long enough (I bought a Gamecube last year on the cheap with the intention of playing through Resident Evil 2, 3, CV, The remake and Resident Evil 4. Apart from those games (and Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon) the console had next to no good games. It's looking even worse for Nintendo this time. They should just go the way of Sega and concentrate on game development (and drop the weak stuff like Mario and Metroid). The low price and kiddie-friendly nature of Nintendo means that it'll probably be a big success with the chidrens market, and thus the games that come out on the Wii will be even more predicatable than they have been in the past.

PS3 could be a success. Unfortunatley, it seems to be the gaming Hardcore buying them up right now. Unless they slash the prices, they're not going to go too far.

You slag several classic series' and you give Halo 3 as a reason to buy an XBox. I don't care if everyone thinks Halo is the best shooter ever, I thought it sucked and was terribly boring.

In response to the OP's question, I would probably suggest waiting about 6 more months before purchasing any console, depending on what kind of games you're looking for.

I picked up an Xbox 360 about 6 months back and it was a great investment. I love how intuitive Xbox Live is with demos, the arcade, and the abillity to stream media from a connected Windows PC at any time. I made a custom playlist from my PC to my 360 of songs while I play Gears of War. It's really cool. The games currently available are also excellent. I had a blast with Saints Row, Dead Rising, Call of Duty, Fight Night, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and most recently, Gears of War. Again, there is more to look forward to as well with more third party support releasing content on Xbox Live. Personally... I'm happy with the 360 and don't think I'll be getting the Nintendo or Sony console. I told myself after the N64 that I would never buy another Nintendo console again but I caved and got a Gamecube only to have the exact same scenario unfold again (lack of third party support, only 2 or 3 must-have titles, limited replay factor as a result of lack of online play, etc.) and as for Sony... they're really asking for an arm and a leg. I don't play console games enough to warrant dropping that cash in one-shot.

Adapting a whole system to a new controller type while the other two systems do the same thing AGAIN, yet you're telling Nintendo to get innovative? Did you get hit on the head lately?

Wii isn't in it for the graphics. Notice how it's half the price of the other two? It's the gameplay that matters. Not the graphics. Do you really need more detailed shoes and floor tiles?

That's just because your taste in games is atrocious. Eternal Darkness? Soul Calibur? MGS Twin Snakes? FF Crystal Chronicals? Viewtiful Joe?

Nintendo is the only company that is innovative, actually. Game Boy. Virtual Boy. Power Glove. Running mat. Most of them failed, but they are trying something. What are the others doing? "HEY LOOK! MORE DETAILED GRAPHICS! YA!!" That's the only appeal of the XBox 360 and PS3. Nothing new. Oh, and my computer will be able to outperform them anyway. I'll take Oblivion on PC thank you.

We'll see. I am predicting a stream of Awesome and God from the Wii. I mean, it's actually fun to play.

I've recently become an intense Sony-hater (evil company. Really evil.), leaving me choosing between the M$ XBox 360 (I dislike M$ as well, not as much as Sony though...) and the Wii.

I'll probably end up getting a 360, though. Why?

Overall, XBOX 360 doesn't have that great of a lineup right now. Plenty of gems, of course, but that's only because it's been out longer.

My brother recently bought Call of Duty 3 for the 360... but I bet he'll be kicking himself when he sees that a Wii version is coming, and that's going to be awesome because of the Wii controller!

The Wii because it's very original and will be insane amount of fun to play. Graphics really don't matter as much as gameplay. Nintendo's only downfall may be that their choice of games are always very kiddie. Although, I became addicted to Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube(the only game that drew into that console). I can't wait for the Next Resident Evil to come out on the Wii.

Playstaion will never be original and will always aim for better graphics and copy Nintendo.

I play the occasional game on PC and almost never approach a console. However, my brother brought me up to like Nintendo and he is still a big fan. I play PC the most, but the Wii looks like fun.

Personally, I might get a Wii because it looks like tons of fun.
I just hope Nintendo's choice of gameplay over graphics doesn't bite them in the arse like it did with the difficult to program for N64 and its overabundance of terrible-looking games with choppy frame rates.

I suspect the PS3 is going to do as well as the PS2 but its price is just insane. The Xbox 360 probably interests me the least.

The thoughts of a good FPS on the Wii also seams really cool, Imagine a second Perfect Dark using the Wii controller, it would be awesome.

OK So my bro got a Wii this morning. And is playing in the next room. It looks amaingly fun. The game play is killer. And whoever mentioned Call of Duty 3 for Wii that is just gonna be amazing. So much fun.

But I'm an Xbox man myself. And I hated Halo 2, halo 1 was awesome. So lets see how halo 3 turns out. As for gears of war as a darko fan i love the commercials.

Indeed, but after seeing the leap between Halo 1 and 2, I think the gaming community has good reason to be very excited about Halo 3, especially given the fact that the final product will be further enhanced and enriched by the fact it's on new hardware. Plus, Halo 2 was such a beautifully artistic creation, I can't wait to see #3
