XDS+ loud crackling/popping noises when transmitted cable is wiggled

This is happening with my transmitter. It's very intermittent but, when it happens, it's very loud. I play in a church so loud popping noises during the service are frowned upon :( It seems like something not quite right in the connection to the transmitter.

I know there has been discussion that the stock cable that comes with the unit is crap. What I wasn't able to judge from these posts is whether or not the popping/crackling noises I'm getting are likely related to the cable or not. Based on the behavior, it seems to me it's more likely the connector in the transmitter than the cable. But, I could be wrong. Maybe the stock cable doesn't fit the connector as well as the "better" one others are using. I took it to a local service place and they said they couldn't reproduce it so they can't fix it. It looks like I may need to do something about it myself.

If you had the same problem, could you please tell me what you did to fix it? Did a cable swap actually fix it? Or, did you need to do something else?

I had the same problem and thought it to be the transmitter....complicating matters further was I found the issue to be (like your shop) intermittent. Replaced the cable (they are not very good) and have had no issues since.

If someone has a source for the locking 1/8 connectors I would love to know so that I could make a few backup cables vs paying 55.00 for a deluxe X2 cable.

Thanks. This is also something I've been interested in. I'd like to make a custom cable of the right length (the stock one is a bit too long).
One stupid question: is 3.5mm interchangeable with 1/8"? I know 3.5mm is very close to 1.8", but it's not exactly 1/8". Have you used this plug in something that requires a 1/8" plug (ideally in an XDS+ transmitter)?

i recently discovered that my x2 cables would short when i screwed them to the transmitter, but they were fine if i plugged them in and didn't screw them down. try that and see if it helps. and don't worry...they won't come out if you have proper strain relief.

I'll try this but if I remember correctly, my problem seemed to get better if I really tightened up the transmitter cable. My assumption has been that, as I perform, it loosens a bit and this creates a bad contact. Also, I don't jump around a lot (noises and jumping around during a service are frowned upon :)) so I'm not too worried about the cable becoming disconnected.

my question exactly :help:......I found some of the 3.5 locking (though the link provided is the best price I have seen).... would they work?
