XLR and DC power in one cable

I'm looking at 2-3 preamp pedals that I have a DI and need to be power by 9vDC. I don't have a pedal board and don't want an adapter in front of me plus a power extension running to power outlet.
Is there and XLR cable (for DI) with DC cable plugs on both ends where one end plugs into the preamp and the other end I plug the DC adapter?

I know you were but the answer is it doesn't exist in any practical readily available way. The power jack on the pedals is probably standard 2.1mm so for $10 or less go buy male/female ends and the wire and build a 20" or however long you need jumper from the power supply to the pedal. Take electrical tape and tag it onto a mic line. Do a careful neat job with tape every 8" or so and it's going to look very clean and work extremely well. Carry spares and if either cable goes bad you can fix it easily. I've was a touring stage tech and lighting guy at the arena level for a few years and this is how it's done.

The only way you're going to get what you want in one line is to find some 5-wire cable that will carry both the audio and DC without audio interference and put on the appropriate jacks and plugs. Look though catalogs from companies like Belden and Canare. If you can find something I'd guess you'll be looking at a buck or so a foot plus ends plus labor for probably $60+ per cable....and for something this custom and system critical you'd better have at least one spare. It might be doable but it's way more trouble than it's worth.

I purchased some quadcore cable to run 2 lots of 9VDC power out to a pedal board. I put male and female boss power adaptors on each end so I could keep the power supplies behind my amp and away from front of stage.
Not integrated with my leads (I did try it for a while and it wasn't as good as I'd hoped) but certainly neater than using power supplies and powerboards at the front of the stage.

If tape is too messy, how about rolling your own using heat-shrink tubing? (I'm guessing you've already tested for potential noise problems when you run your signal and power cables together, yes?) Or, if your goal is simply to ditch a separate run for juice, can you use batteries or something like a Volto to power your 9v pedals?

BTW, pedalboards can be your friend.

That's exactly what I want, but with one XLR and and DC line.
I will call Digiflex to custom make one for me.

I was thinking of a battery pack but it defeats MY point of having a small preamp (and only) pedal (I know, I know... :) ). I would have like if the were phantom power but not the case.
I tried tape and shrink tubes other projects but it was not what I was looking for. I have a power, midi and guitar cables in a nylon braided sleeve and it's better. That will probably what I will use if not going for custom cable. Digiflex will tell me if having both in one cable would work or not. If not I will go braided sleeve.

Not interested in a pedalboard as I have an Avid Eleven Rack with a midi foot controller. I want something I put in my gigbag for practice/jam.

Fair enough. Your original post's mention of 2-3 pedals (+/including DI? the wording makes it hard to tell) seemed to scream out for a micro- or nano-board w/ power supply underneath. Make that rechargeable, and you have the option of omitting the power cable.

But, yeah, if you're trying to trim down to just a single pedal, that's a different game.

Is that an open-weave strain-relief in the pic above? I'm curious about how durable you find this arrangement.



Do you ever have trouble with the leads pulling out on the power supply end, or have you found locking connectors?
