XLR Caps?

It could make sense IMHO.

Example:

The input jack and FS jack on my Buster are right next to each other . Lucky for me the previous owner installed a 1/4" jack cover .

Exactly where are those supposed to reduce noise from?
Especially since the pictured caps are female, so you'd plug them into outputs...which what, would otherwise leak RF or EMI back into the audio circuit so that the noise/interference would be audible on some other outputs?!?!
Color me skeptical.

That's exactly what they are for. To prevent someone plugging into the wrong one. For instance a wet and dry set of xlr on a DI or preamp and you only want the FOH to plug in to one of them.

The older I get, the more prevalent this sort of noise becomes .

Yeah I don't know why they would say it reduces noise. That doesn't make any sense. My concern is only that may cause damage if there is a hot signal going into this plug that doesn't go anywhere

Dummy plugs/dust covers would do the trick, though but humble silicone bearing no promises. It pays to cover any unused jacks in general, including for PCs as well. Crusty bits make poor connections.

Gaff tape is a thing as well.

I don't see any reason not to use those, but I don't see them stopping noise as claimed. Well, maybe in that they would stop all signal from leaving the jack!

And @Stranger Danger I use Neutriks XLR version of the above to blank off unused I/Os ( unfurtunately the Neutrick down't have the same noise reduction properties as the ones you posted! )

If they fit properly, they will block the connection and keep it clean.

I have used a few of the Neutrik SCF and SCM caps to protect some jacks at installations.
All of my Ethercon cables have the SCMX XL caps to protect the connectors.
