XLR plug hot to the touch

Yup. But, I said problem. Not power. As in, some problem going on with the phantom power on that channel.

So the drummer complains about something hot to the touch and no one decided that its a clear sign to fire the drummer?!?!?!
To quoin a ohrase - Location, Location, Location. It might have been sitting under a heat source. How hot was it?Burning hot? Warm to the touch? Of course, check the plug out, but, if it was only one plug, I'd suggest that your problem is related to the drummer. Check it again next gig.
I'm going to say phantom power applied as a dead short through an XLR connector with out the 6.8k current limiting resistors in place would still not heat up the XLR.
