Hi! I'very been playing guitar for years and am looking into getting a 5-string bass. My local pawn shop has a Yamaha BBG5 as well as a Yamaha BB425 for sale. Both I'm good condition, both for a good price, but I'm torn between the two. So, which one would you recommend?

You won’t go wrong either way. The BBG5 is older, make sure its trussrod works (really for both basses.) Check the bridge saddles of both basses too. The BBG5 will get a more modern, mid centered tone. The BB425 will be more traditional, and you will get single coil hum with both pickups on. The BBG5 will probably not have hum issues.
