Yamaha BB

Hi Justin,

Do you still keep any of those Yamaha custom BB prototypes that you used with NIN?
I LOVE the sound you got from them during the NIN era and i'd like to use something similar in studio, as another recording weapon. To my ears it sounds pretty unique.
I saw in Reverb one of your BB for sale, but being in Europe it's a expensive nightmare import a bass from USA right now. Any alternative that comes to you mind? maybe a P/Jazz Deluxe? I'm not able to get that kind of sound with my 70's P Bass and Jazz Bass.

Thanks! Stay safe

Yes, I have one of the BB's, and one is being sold by Techno Empire on my behalf. Anyway, I haven't personally come across anything similar tonally. They are quite specific. It may exist, I'm just not aware of it.

I'll try to try a vintage Yamaha BB2000 if i can, i don't know how close or far could be from your custom model.
Thanks Justin!

Not sure where in EU you are, but this may be of interest to you - Yamaha BB-1024 Tobacco Brown Sunburst | Centro Chitarre | Reverb

I have had a fair few of the Yamaha BB basses, and actually got a BB2024x after seeing JMJ use his custom version live with NIN and absolutely love the sound of it. I've also had the BB1024 basses, a couple vintage ones, and the newer models, and none of them really capture the same sound as the BB2024/BB1024 from my experience.
