Yamaha BB1000

I haven't posted for a while and it's great to be back. I'm interested in a getting a BB1000 from the 1980s. What should I reasonably expect to pay for one In US dollars?

I love my 1000s. If I found another one as clean as mine, I'd probably go as high as 800 bucks

Cool. The reason why I was asking is that I found one for $500, but I saw price figures much lower than that when I looked up the model in the Harmony Central review database. Danke schoen.

Is the 1000 a neck thru?? I'm not familiar with every BB model but IMHO, the bolts are good but overall, not is the same league as the neck thru models. I like the extra craftsmanship it takes to build and neck through and would rather pay the premium price for them.

Yes. It is neck-thru. From what I've read, that's the difference between the triple-digit and quadruple digit model designations.

I've got an old BB Series Owner's Manual (1980s)

It lists the BB-300, 450, 1100S, and the 1600 as detachable neck.
It lists the BB-2000, 3000S, and 5000 (5 string) as one piece integral neck.

I almost bought a 1600 back in the late 80s, and it was detachable neck for sure.
The 1100S is the only model listed with 3 band active EQ.

It doesn't show a BB1000, but I think that was an earlier BB model.

according to my 1980s sales brochure the BB1000S model has a solid alder body, neck through with a rosewood fingerboard and a 8 pole rear pickup.

I have a red BB 1000s neck through..with original hard case in great condition. It may be a custom ..due to it having 5 volume/tone knobs, and 2 switches. I'm curious to what it's worth.

This is definitely a modded BB1000s, not a factory version.. nice though. I would most likely have been worth more unmodded but around the $700/800 mark
