what is worthy of note on these basses is the balance in volume between the PU's; no other PJ has such balance IME.

I bought the exact same bass used last September and absolutely love it. Great sound, great feel, top quality. It's a really underrated bass.

I was using a BB424x for a while and then found one just like yours in the classifieds. It too has become my number one. I am seriously falling into the cult of Yamaha

I've got mine up for sale now. I must be crazy. Saving for a semi custom bass and falling short on funds. It's such a great bass so if it doesn't sell I won't be upset at all.

Been looking at these online, but havent seen one in a store to try. A common remark is the bridge pickup having a hum. Is that true? Is it much noise?

I don't get any noticeable hum with mine.

Depends on the room. I've been in some places where it's not an issue and others where it was.

I tend to favor the bridge pick-up in mine when I play and have never noticed any hum.

From what I've read, the BB1024x isn't common outside of Asia. They seem to have been made for the Asian market while the BB424x were for the North American market.
