Just to confirm - the 1024 and 1025 do not have the ARE and IRA technology. The 1024 basses are great (I have just been trying them in Frankfurt) however they are not the same as the 2024 and do feel and sound different IMHO.

The whole BB range now features the Maple/Mahogany five piece neck, 45º through body stringing option and new pickups, the 1024 and 2024 both feature the spline body joint and the nickel nut.

The 2024 basses that we have had through the shop have all been excellent and we have shipped these all over the world (including the USA) to some VERY happy customers!

I can confirm that the Bb1024(x) play fantastic. They look idanticaly to the BB2024, I think I noticed that the input jack is different. I just bought one of the in the moment in Germany available BB3000 (not MA) but I think I have to have a BB1024 (the BB2024 is just to expensive in my eyes)

So the ARE and IRA are the only differences between the 1024 and the 2024?

Anyone know the price difference between those two series?? I can't find prices for the 1000 series anywhere.

The UK prices are approx £2300 for the 2024 and £1300 for the 1024.

The 1024 is great but the ARE/IRA really adds to the general resonance and vibe of the 2024 bass.

I am not sure there are any 2024/2025 heading for the USA according to my sources!

That's a bummer if they don't make it to U.S., but I hope at least the 1000 series finds its way over here.

The ARE and IRE technologies are unique to Yamaha and are advanced ageing processes that reduce the moisture level in the wood and also help in getting the grain of the wood lined up to increase the way body wood interacts with the neck wood.

It sounds like voodoo but I can assure you it makes for amazing consistency from bass to bass in both weight and tone and gives the bass a great tonel when unplugged that translates in a stunning plugged in tone!

There is one in the USA as I have a customer in Utah that now owns a beautiful 2024X in Black. I do not know if he is on this forum though.

The 1024/5 has a different body shape to the 2024/5 - the contouring is very different especially at the upper shoulder. The 1024/5 have maple/nato laminate necks (nato is also known as eastern mahogany and is a cheaper less dense wood) whereas the 2024/5 models have maple/mahogany laminate necks.

Other subtle differences are that the high end instruments have hand selected pieces of wood and this is evident looking at the rosewood board on my BB2024x and feeling the weight of the alder body (really quite light), all the finishing and fretwork is done by hand on the 2024/5 models and it gives a really special vibe and feel that only this kind of craftmanship can.
