Yamaha BB3000a (MIT) vs BB3000 (MIJ)

I just bought a BB 3000a off craigslist after reading all the rave reviews of 80's MIJ yamaha BB's. However I just found out its a made in Taiwan model.

I was wondering if you guys have noticed or know of any difference in quality or sound between the Taiwan BB3000a and its Japanese counterpart.

Just Curious.

A respected luthier once told me that the MIT models might have lower price tags, but if it says Yamaha on the headstock you needn't worry about the quality.
I have a MIT BB3000. I haven't yet found anything wrong with it's construction. I just love this bass.

Well I'm convinced. It actually feels great and plays amazing especially for slap and fingers style playing. :)

not sure if i'm sold on how it sounds with a pick which is mainly the type of playing i'm looking to do with my recordingsl.. but thanks again to all who replied

I have to add that I just recently found out that some TRB6P basses were made in Taiwan. Previously I thought they were all Japanese. Those basses have received nothing but great comments here on the forum and I've never seen any TRB6P basses been divided into Japanese and Taiwanese made. So I assume all of them have great build quality.

I have two BB5000's....one is a MIT the other is MIJ. I can find no difference and I did not even know the MIT was MIT until I had picked it as my main player...it still serves in that role today.

@nateshively: What did you pay for your BB 3000? I am currently looking into buying one myself. In US $ converted, it amounts to $2360. This amount I think is Vat inclusive, as a shop is selling this instrument. Hoping to get an idea what these Basses are going for?
