Yamaha BB3000A Pickup Mod (reversible)

This is a question for eighties Yamaha obsessives.

I have a very nice MIJ BB3000A (the active version of the BB3000). It's a great bass but I want to be able to run the bass in passive and active mode; effectively creating a BB3000 and a BB3000A in one instrument.

The key thing is that I want the mod to be reversible as it's a vintage (1987) BB.

Has anyone found a replacement pickup from yamaha that fits the old brass surrounds and the pickup cavities on the BB3000A? I've seen some reference to the current BB2024 pickups fitting the older rings.

Anyone tried it or have other thoughts? I would also swap out the old preamp with a suitable new unit with an active/passive pull pot to complete mod.

Ultimately, finding some japanese BB3000 pickups would be perfect but they don't come up that often by the look of it. PM me if you have some for sale...
