Yamaha BB424 truss rod

Hi

Just looking for some advice please. I picked up a sweet Yamaha BB424 bass with the blade J style pickup.

Doing a little truss rod adjustment I noticed that it tightens when turned left and loosens when you turn it right. Is this right for this model or is there something wrong with the truss rod?

Thanks in advance

So you understand what's going on technically:

That's a double-acting truss rod. It works in both forward and reverse directions. It apparently was tightened up partially in the reverse direction, to the left. When you turned it to the right from there, you loosened it from the reverse direction into the neutral dead zone. Continue turning right from there, and it will tighten up in the forward direction. There's always a dead zone in the middle of about a turn, where it turns freely. But it will tighten up either direction. That's how double-acting rods work.

My first time adjusting my BB through me for a loop as well. This is the correct approach. Getting into that neutral zone freaked me out at first because I thought it was gonna loosen all the way, then it caught again and began applying pressure in the opposite direction.
