Yamaha BB434 vs BB734

Trying to decide between the two basses buying new. I know the 434 is passive only but is the quality of the instrument as good as the 734? Are you just paying extra for the active electronics or are you getting a better built bass?

Yeah I’m leaning toward the 434 if the build quality is as good as the 734.

Also does anyone know the weight difference? Which one would be lighter?

The 734 has an alder/maple/alder body construction and the 434 is all alder.
They have different pickups and different bridges as well.

I'd be inclined to pay the extra $270 for the 734. The nicer bridge and feature set seem worth it.

It’s a $350 difference here in Canada but I get what you are saying.

Has anybody owned or at least tried both? I'm thinking about one of these, might even consider a P34 if the quality jump was worth it.

All models seem like a great choice, I'm not usually excited by active electronics but if it's best bang for buck I'd live with the 734.

I own a BB435x, and it’s a nice instrument, but I would spend more if possible. The other model, the P35 is on a whole other level. I would get one of those if possible.

Having said that, some like the pickups and the chrome and the look of the 434 better!
