I had a friend over jamming today, and I decided to pull out my Yamaha RBX374 that is currently strung with flatwounds (since we were jamming out some softer-sounding tunes, so I thought the flats might sound good).
OMG! The RBX with flats is a tone monster! I had the pickup balance set to middle with the bridge pickup boosted really close to the strings and the neck pickup drilled into the neck a bit (kinda how some jazzs are set). The tone is deep and punchy and really nice and warm.

This is the TRB 6 that I got hold of yesterday. Can one of you Yamaha gurus tell me the official name of its color?
The neck needs some tweaking, but I hope that it will become as playable as my old BB 5000. I think that the BB 5000 neck had the lowest action without buzz that I ever experienced. Still it had to go because of the narrow string spacing.
