Yamaha EMX512SC Powered Mixer question...

I have the EMX512 powered mixer. Right now I'm using 2 stage monitors and 2 FOH. The PA is used for vocals only right now. The manual says you can come out of the "mono out" and use an active speaker. Can you only use 1 active speaker or can you use multiples? I'm wanting to know if there is a way to run 4 stage monitors and 2 FOH with the powered mixer. If anyone is familiar with this unit any help is appreciated...thnx.

The mono out is a line level signal out. Most powered speakers can be daisy chained , so connect the mono out to the first powered speaker and then connect the signal output of the powered speaker to the next and so on. They will all receive the same mono signal.
These mixers are also ok with4 ohms so you could run 4 passive speakers off the powered side ,two in parallel per channel and use a powered pair for the F O H

I have this unit. We don't use it anymore. I can't tell you about powered speakers, but I can tell you that you can come out of the Mon out into a power amp and then into a couple subs.

That was my next question. Can I run 4 with the powered mixer, 2 per channel/amp and then come out of the mono out to a power amp and use 2 speakers per side on the power amp, if the amp is rated to run at 4 ohms/channel.(2 8ohm speakers per channel)?

I assume you mean "monitor out" not "mono out".

But yes - what you described above should work fine. Not sure what amp you would use, but many have a "parallel input" switch so you can plug an input into one channel but the signal gets sent to both.

One band I'm in uses that head. We run 2 full range mains and 2 floor monitors. When we do larger, or sometimes smaller awkward spaces, I'll bring a mackie thump 12 along as an extra monitor. As with most powered speaks, the mackie has a daisy chain to the next powered speak.
Being that it is a line out it could just as easily be a rack full of crossover, eq, compressor and poweramp(s). Which would be silly but still, it could be done.

In my acoustic pop gig, we run a Mackie head 406? That is pretty similar. We take the mixer out to a my QSC K10's for mains. We take monitor out to 2 or 3 of my mackie Thump 12's as monitors.

I would love to do every gig using my full system, Presonus Studio Live board, K Subs under the K10's ... Most gig's we just don't have the space or the time...

Just find this statement a little odd. I can't see it taking much time to set that rig up. I also don't see it taking much floor space. A Speaker stand would take up as much real estate as a K-sub.
