Which one should I get? GK 700RB or Orange OB1 500Which one should I get?
I decided to move to a rack system. Very impopular opinion but let's see how it goes.Which one should I get? GK 700RB or Orange OB1 500
What did you decide?
oh yes, sorry, pretty irresponsible to just have asked that. I intend to build up a simple rack system (already described in another thread). I already have a QSC GX5 for the power section and had an Ampeg SVT IIP, but I returned it because it came with a problem with the gain knob, after the seller claimed it worked perfect. Ain't nobody got time for that. So now I'm looking for another preamp and have found these two to be very affordable options, and so far the reviews are great, but cannot test them before buying them, which I'm kind of okay with.I don't know. Do you need either? What are you going to do with them?
can you tell me anything about its sound?I can't comment on the PB-1 but I've had a SIP-301 since 1980. I don't use it much anymore because I mostly go direct when I am playing live these days. When I do use an amp, I mostly use a PF-500.......because its light and I'm old and lazy. Back to the SIP......I started out driving a QSC 1401 and now use a QSC RMX850. As far as features, its got HPF, LPF, selectable notches for low, mid and high, a compressor, a built in crossover and direct out. My only complaint is that the Direct Out is post input gain and generally too hot for most applications. To keep the sound guys happy, I usually use a direct box instead. Mines always been racked but that rack including the power amp has been dropped more than once (bad enough to rip the rack rails off the case once....) and its still going.

money sent!Go with the PB-1! Trust me. They are almost bullet proof and can get pretty much any sound you want. Gotta be tweaked a bit eq wise but they don't lie.
