Double Bass Yamaha SLB300 New model

I ordered a second battery holder to facilitate battery changes if needed at a gig. Ordered through Sweetwater. I also requested for Yamaha to included a second holder with new basses.

$15.99 plus tax and shipping. There are two pieces - the battery holder and the receptacle that goes inside the preamp. The receptacle is not needed.

Part number on the Sweetwater invoice is s#WS668000 battery holder assembly

I cannot find that on Sweetwater’s site.
I found this using the Google search "Yamaha AA Battery Holder" on a few different sites. I was able to order one from Full Compass Systems about three years ago. It might add a couple of dollars to the cost basis of the product if Yamaha included an extra one, but if Yamaha cared at all they never would have used two AA batteries to power the computer inside this thing. That was an absolutely insane design decision.

Hey, does anyone know if it drains the battery if it’s kept off, but with a cable jack pushed all the way in? I know that drains the battery on active pickups, but unclear if that’s the case with the SLB 300. Thanks.

According to page 18 of the Owner's Manual Yamaha included with my SLB 300, yes. Please see attached.

I'm pretty sure that isn't what it says. Also, I have left mine plugged in but turned off for days at a time without any noticeable effect on battery life. My experience is that as long as it is either switched off OR unplugged it doesn't use the battery. This is different from my experience with some active bass guitars, which drain the battery when plugged in even if they are switched to passive mode.

The SLB300 Pro is supposed to be back in stock soon. I have a question for people who already own one. Is it easy to take the body frame on and off for transport? If you take it on and off for every rehearsal and performance, is the connecting mechanism likely to wear out? Is there any thing else a prospective buyer should know? Thanks much.

I’ve been using mine weekly for almost 4 years and it has never loosened or shown any wear. There are two attachment points - one at the base of the next and one lower on the body on the back. Neither has ever been a problem on mine. Not the pro model, but identical in every important way.

I assume you understand that the original and pro only differ cosmetically. The only exception is the ebony board. The electronics, measurements and accessories are identical.
