Anyone can help me identify this bass?
Looks like a trbx304, but the black strip on the head and the lack of selector below the know leaves me perplex:
Yup...it's a Yamaha RBX374. I have the five string version, a silver RBX375. That "3D" headstock is a dead giveaway. Also there isn't that contour on the lower bout.
I also had a TRBX305 and a TRBX304 - to be honest, I like the older RBX374/5 basses a little better in terms of sound. To me, they sounded a little less muddy and could get a slightly deeper low - had the same strings on them. That blade switch was pretty nifty though on the TRBX and the neck feels a little less chunky than the older RBX models.
I hesitate between this bass and a Fender Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special IL Crimson Red.
I'm a "basement" player, mainly playing punk rock/alt. Both are about the same price used (200 for the yama vs 250 for the squier). Any recommandation?
