YEAH!!! Just got a MODULUS!

Look what the brown truck dropped off on Friday.

2004 Modulus Quantum
5A Exhibition Grade Quilted Maple Top
Bart PU's and pre
Pink over blue finish

I love this bass. It's exactly what I was hoping for. The sound, craftsmanship, and playability is killer! It's got that ultra-clear, modern, piano type tone Modulus is famous for with that signature Bartolini push in the low mids that I've always associated with high end basses. The versatility of this thing is amazing. I can get all kinds of tones with it. I can't imagine a style of music where this thing wouldn't fit in. It excels at the fusion/bass solo-type thing which is what I bought it for. The slap tone is out of this world.

The neck is perfect and I can get crazy low action with it. I can actually get the action lower than I prefer, and I like low action! I love the ultra-hard phenolic fingerboard.

It's going to take a little getting used to coming from my Warwicks. The neck is considerably flatter. It's also a very unforgiving instrument as it's ultra-responsive and articulate, but that's what I was hoping for. I'm sure it will make me clean up my technique.

I've never played an EMG equipped Modulus but I wouldn't say the tone on this one is sterile at all. I think it's pretty organic actually. It doesn't quite have the growl of my Warwicks but that's Ok. I didn't expect it too. What I wanted was a very clear, responsive, articulate, and well-made instrument and that's what I got!

Wow! She's gorgeous. Many years ago I placed an ad to sell a MM Stingray. I got a call from a guy asking if I'd be interested in trading for a Modulus Quantum 4 Sweetspot. I wasn't thinking "trade", but hey, it was a Modulus! So we met. I was immediately disappointed with the look. It was red with a white pickguard. In my mind, I was hoping for a beauty like yours. But it sounded great, so I made the trade. I kept it for a year or so, then traded it even-up for a new Ric 4003. Of course, if she looked as great as yours does, I'd have never traded it...

Very very nice. I predict that you will remain no less delighted with your Modulus than you are today. I got my first Modulus about 2 months ago, and it's hard to put down.

I have owned my Q5 for more than five years now. I have never kept a bass that long before. I have never touched anything at any price that I was envious of. I like it that much. It records beautifully, it is a hammer live and plays like a dream.

FWIW, I get stellar results using DM SR2000 strings on mine. I have tried several others, and it is THE string for the clarity and articulation that I associated with my Q5.

Mine is natural quilt with pheno fb and bart/bart 2-band.

Enjoy the bass.
