My apologies, just making sure I follow are you saying you saw a Bongo at a Musicians Friend Brick and Mortar store in 1998?

Or are you referring to "That one" in 1998?

:)
Brick and Mortar Musicians friend. It was before Guitar center bought them out. It may have been 1999. I didn't start playing until 1998, and that store is now a Guitar Center in Tukwilla, WA, next to what used to be Southcenter Mall. I left Seattle 15 years ago so I don't know if either is still there.

Too bad you didn't buy it as that's 4 to 5 years before the Bongo was officially released at NAMM 2003. My understanding is that R&D started in 01. Could it have been later than you remember? Even if it was 01 or 02 that would be an early prototype? They had an Orange color way when released in 03.

Then it IS later than I remember. Thanks. I wondered about the actual date, but was too lazy to look it up.

Unlike most people, I think the bongo is beautiful. The almost circular lines of the body, and that high gloss metalic orange was hard to beat. I shouldn't have sold my Amazon stock back then either. :p

I was hoping for an early prototype honestly :)
