I was looking for an AEB/ABG several years ago. I played a Taylor, a Tacoma, and an Epiphone El Capitan within a very short time frame. The Taylor was about $1800, the Tacoma was about $800, and the El Capitan was about $400. That Taylor ruined me. I didn't buy it, but I've compared everything else to it since. I have yet to hear anything that came anywhere close to it. Another downside is that they are somewhat fragile.

I picked up a Taylor at a bass store a couple months ago, and I found that the natural sound of the bass was rather thin. It didn't have depth to the tone. For what they ask for them, I can't justify it.
Also, I played a Breedlove acoustic guitar the other day, and I have a new appreciation for the build quality of those things. If an ABG was going to be a major part of my playing, I would purchase the 5er I found on the Bay. The Michael Kelly I got is great, especially for the price. It has a good sound, is very playable, and comfortable on my leg for 3+ hours.
