Double Bass (yet another newbie thread)recording from a pickup to a computer

Greetings folks;

i'd need some hints on what equipment i need to record with my comp. will have a fishman fc, i have a basic soundcard.
word around the universe is that I need a preamp. fine.

but: must I look for special features, or any standard preamp would do, ie, all-hailed-bob's kksound preamps. guess i'd need an adaptor to get from 1/4 to 1/8?
should I instead look at some sort of a small mixer/console?

i'm in the fog here, thanks for shedding some light.

You 'll need a preamp for sure, any standard preamp who has an input for pickups (that means high impedance, at least 1Mohm) would do. Then you connect the output of the preamp to the 1/8 input of the computer sound card, using adaptors.
If the preamp has tone controls (bass-mid-tremble), you 'll be able to get a better sound, or simply the sound you like more.

I did it with succes using K&k Dual Ch Pro, Gigpro, Sansamp Paradriver, or even using the preamp section of the Focus.

Good luck..
