What is your color preference for this Aztec gold body?

I’ll post a few photo options along with the poll…. Let me know what your preferences. And write in another preference if you don’t see it amongst the poll options…

This will have a rosewood fingerboard, by the way. I also have two other bases that have anodized pick guards, but I’m not so opposed to using an anodized guard on this one as well…

I will stay with tort anyway but more specifically the Allparts red tort, I don’t like the salami slice like the Fender stuff !

If I own this Aging/relic body with rosewood board, I will give she a aging spitfire pickguard.

Or, relic dark brown tort pickguard which has close colour tonal with dark rosewood fretboard.

That's a really nice looking finish. My pickguard choices would be:
#1 Aged white - some pickguard makers offer this. I'm picturing a slightly more off white shade than the white guard in your photo, not as dark as parchment.

#2 Tortoise - and when you get into a conversation about tort it always seem to turn into a discussion of who makes the most authentic repro version of it - Spitfire, or.. so be prepared for that.

I actually do like the Mint. It looks "correct".

But I really like "real" Tort.

With that body color, when you put the thing under stage lights, any of the whitish colors (white, parchment, mint, even perloid) will give you two colors (whatever the gold looks like under that light, and whatever color they're washing your pickguard with), with completely random results - the thing may look good under some lighting, and crappy under the next lighting scheme. If you use a black pickguard, the black will always look pretty much black, and the gold will be one color (random) contrasting that. A much better chance it'll look good with black under stage lighting than with anything whitish.

Tort is also a crapshoot under stage lighting - if there's no red in the lights, there's no telling what it'll look like. I would only use tort on a black body for that reason
