I used to make colorways for my old band's logo. I consider this my greatest creation.

Gold body with rosewood board? The answer is brown tort. Here's my Aztec Gold Lakland. Came with parchment, which I replaced with brown tort as soon as it was delivered. (Had to have it made because of the Chi-Sonic pickups.) The Aztec Gold looks different in different lighting. Original Parchment and replacement Brown Tort:

My gold bass started off as gold with tort. When choosing that combination, I hadn't appreciated that gold is quite a deep tone. Only in the right lighting did the metallic finish and the tort really glow.

Had the bass been spending its life on stage or in a sundrenched home, it would have been fine, but it wasn't, and the gold and the tort usually looked like a gloomy muddle.

Parchment was good for giving the gold life and keeping things warm:

Looks like the perfect blend between gold, off white and rosewood to me.

What is your color preference for this Aztec gold body?

I’ll post a few photo options along with the poll…. Let me know what your preferences. And write in another preference if you don’t see it amongst the poll options…

This will have a rosewood fingerboard, by the way. I also have two other bases that have anodized pick guards, but I’m not so opposed to using an anodized guard on this one as well…

Thanks

Maybe not always tort, but it does look great on that particular bass.

Looks like tort is in the lead. No shocker there, tort always wins these polls.

I’m surprised that black is in second place, and I thought mint would rate higher than Parchment. I wasn’t sure how anodized would do, seems like a love/hate thing for many people.

Got a few more days of poll left…
