Either phony or some artsy thing.
BDSM community has enough of their own bands and recorded music is usually less of a hassle. Also your typical rock band would not fit the mood. Swingers if they still exist under that name are too cheap ass to hire a band.

I'm guessing there has to be fat, harry people that don't want the town's folk to catch wind of whom partakes in such activities......
And what happens when the person who is supposed to pay you also leaves while the group is blindfolded?! How will you know? At the end of the show, it may be just the 4 of you standing around waiting for the ok to take the blindfolds off.

Or funnier yet, just wear an eye patch like a pirate and if they ask, tell them you're already blind in the other eye! LMAO!!

Hey, on a serious note: that's a No-Go. It's one thing for a bar to make an agreement to pay at the end based on cover charges for the night, but parties--no. When I worked as a DJ for weddings, etc. we ALWAYS got paid for the gig BEFORE the gig. They already know what they plan to do and they already know how long they need you there for it. There is no reason for the pay to be posponed until the end. Too many bands agree to these conditions when DJs who have a much less complicated job DON'T agree to it. I'm telling you, I wouldn't go for that. If it was me, I'd tell them that I'll agree to ignore everything, forget everything, wear whatever costume, and wear a blindfold...but you will pay me IN FULL UP FRONT.

back in the day (70's) the band I was in played a gig at a "clothing optional" party...it was quite weird...the guitarist was the only one that had the guts to play sans clothing...his yayas were covered pretty much all the time anyway with his guitar...all the rest of us just wore teeshirts/shorts, etc...unfortunately, there wasn't a decent looking gal in the place...all of the people seemed to be "granolas" or hippys....like I said, it was a strange gig.
I have played a nudist colony plenty..they don't require blindfolds..howver I always wished I wore one....
