I should have bought Geddy's 1970's SVT for $1500 when I had the chance. Didn't come with a $3000-4000 letter signed by a guitarist though.....

They may have been used by Michael at some point, but the studio was Ed's. Most studios will have a bass amp or two laying around.

Same here. Not for an amp...no celeb held their amp up on the cover of a Rolling Stone or anything.

The last SVT-II (non Pro) I saw was in my local GC used section for $900 bucks.

If I buy an amp, I want to use it. No problem with going used. But I will not bay five times the price for an amp, played by someone with a big name.

If it was a bass, that would be something else. But these are "only" a SVT 4 Pro and a SVT 2 non-Pro. You can get them cheaper.

C'mon people. The reason these amps are way above market price is because they have "mojo." I bet if you picked up that SVT-4, you'd go from playing corner bars to stadiums in a matter of two weeks. Once club owners, promoters, and groupies get wind that you're playing an amp that used to be in EVH's studio, they'll be clamoring for you. You can't put a price on that type of mojo.

Few amps should command that type of price based on what famous person played it. I could see Jamerson's Ampeg or Jaco's Acoustic amps commanding a premium but few others.
