C'mon people. The reason these amps are way above market price is because they have "mojo." I bet if you picked up that SVT-4, you'd go from playing corner bars to stadiums in a matter of two weeks. Once club owners, promoters, and groupies get wind that you're playing an amp that used to be in EVH's studio, they'll be clamoring for you. You can't put a price on that type of mojo.

Few amps should command that type of price based on what famous person played it. I could see Jamerson's Ampeg or Jaco's Acoustic amps commanding a premium but few others.

The SVT-II is a brilliant amp, but not worth that price tag.

These amps may not be quite what you're expecting when you play through them. I got a buddy who does some tech work for us who used to work for EVH back in the late 90s. Our lead guitarist usually uses my 5150. Well we had to put it in the shop for a few days and our tech brought over a 5150 that was personally given to him by "Ed", and used to be in his studio until mine was done being serviced (I've heard on a number of occasions that EVH is rather generous with his gear so I have no reason to doubt him) Let me tell you, that amp is a whole different animal. It literally has no quiet setting. It's either completely off or loud as balls.And it is louder than any 100-120 watt head i've ever heard. I was actually glad to have mine back so we could play at non ear shredding volume. He also brought a couple of the old Peavey Wolfgangs along for us to see. One of them used to be EVH's it was purple and had huge eye loops for strap buttons and it sounded and played amazing.

I don't know if it's still the case but at one time everything in the 5150 studio used to covered in a layer of cigarette ashes and smelled of smoke. Deal breaker for me.

I once bought an Alembic bass off of the Bay, and when it arrived and I opened the hard shell case, I just about died from the foul stench. How disgusting.

As for the SVT-II nonpro currently for sale on the Bay for such a ridiculous price, I just laughed when I saw it. Based on VH's most recent tour (MAJOR suckage), someone would have to PAY ME to own anything related to VH.
