I'm kind of in it. Trio with one guy on modular synth/guitar/spoken-word/rants, another on saxotronics and keys, and me on upright and electric bass. It's almost entirely improv and it's a blast. We don't gig at this point, and that's fine with me.

Ha! No… just a bunch of people who, musically, I greatly admire who I imagine could track some amazing music. Though, from a Genesis songwriting perspective, I should really probably throw Tony Banks into that mix somewhere. Though, as a whole, that would be a heck of a lot of “personality” to manage!

Good point. The first one that came to mind was Dave Lee Roth's band after he left VH. The band members were among the most talented in the world and at their peak.

Their debut album Eat 'Em and Smile got many great reviews. One was published in Guitar World magazine, and in the final paragraph the journalist wrote something along along the lines of, "As great as the band is, we know it's not going to last." And it didn't.

I'd hire the studio guys Steely Dan pissed off by being perfectionists. I'd treat them fairly and reward them for their hard work and professionalism. After they left, I'd overdub my simple, uneducated, technically unsophisticated fretboard meanderings and call it a day. That would be for a recording. For a tour I'd like to do a duet with Lidija Bacic Lille. Just her voice and a fretless.

It's not harsh IMO to suggest that people read and comprehend a question but it does seem to be an exercise in futility around here. Once again, we all want our feelings protected so I'm not allowed to suggest that.

Those of us who prefer to use direct and succinct speech get attacked for having the audacity to make simple statements of fact when the world really would prefer we hand out participation trophies.

We all make mistakes. It's what we do after we make them that shows who we are.

What I would like to do right now is suggest we get back on topic.
