Your drummer and you...

My very first drummer (I think we played together for close to 10 years or so) was my brother. We are pretty close, and we share practically the same synapses. We play very very well together.

My current drummer and I have been together for around 6 years now. We play very well together and anticipate what is going through the other guys head so much it's scary sometimes. He lives in a different town, so we don't pal around much unless we're gigging, but he's still probably the best friend I have.

Huh...... 2 drummers over the last 15 or 16 years....... I guess I like to be married to one drummer rather than play the field. Does that make me special?

I get along pretty good with my drummer...

His political reasoning/views slightly disturb me (but I bite my tongue for the sake of the groove), and I'm not always crazy about some of the non-drum music he comes up with...but other than that we have good chemistry and our jams are what prompted us to start this project. Heck our musical tastes are damn near identical.

...now the guitarist on the other hand...Whats it gonna take to get him to stop canceling practices and answer his phone?

My drummer is my bro that's two minutes older than me... so we get a pretty tight groove goin on. My other brother that was born in between us is our guitar player.

That is so cool.

I've played with alot of drummers in my time. Many of them were excellent, excellent drummers. But,the drummer I've most bonded with is my current drummer. We've played together steady for well over 20yrs.It's really weird.I mean,we can practically carry on a complete conversation with eye contact. It's really sad to say.....But I can read my drummer better than the old lady! It's past the point to where we really don't even practice as a rhythm section. We can take our respective parts home and work on them individually, next practice,we pretty much have down all the little accents&nuances.Very convenient.I would truly be heartbroken if something were to happen to him and I.He's my best bud.

I am tight tight tight close with... them.

Anyone else like me?

In a playing sense? Man, I've played with alot of drummers. Tight tight tight close (in a playing sense) is such a cool position to be in. I've been spoiled because I've played with a few really good players. I'm such a better player when I get the chance to play with a drummer that "gets it."

But I've never held hands with a drummer or anything like that. If he had something hanging out of his nose, I'd tell him (or her). Ketchup on the chin? They're on their own.
