Your Favorite Lyric Lines

"If blood is thicker than water, than you'll drown quicker than we intended. If blood is thicker than water, than you'll know where you can find us in the end; so we can begin again." - Circa Survive

"One of these mornings will be the loudest you hear. One of these mornings, we'll be home." - Blind Pilot

"I hate regrets more than apologies." - Nofx

"It's only a matter of time. It's only a matter of time. Untill suddenly, voices ring out from the clouds. Bursting out in song with speakers pumping loud. It's only a matter of time." - Jukebox the Ghost

"Life is pain, give it to me straight. Touch my heart and I'll sing along forever." - Bouncing Souls

"I don't want you to be alone, down there. To be alone, down there. To be alone. The devil's apprentice, he gave some credit. He thanked me a lot and I'll probly regret it. But I don't want you to be alone, down there. To be alone, down there. To be alone." - Modest Mouse

Re-animate me,
'Cause I was once alive.
Defeat smears out my focus,
Consciousness subsides.
Unmotivated,
Beheld by scorching eyes.
Infinity stares back at me,
The surging darkness coils to strike.

-Meshuggah, "Neurotica"

One of the few songs written by people who genuinely seem to know what deep depression is like. Or at least one particular brand of it.

Once you taste Meshuggah - and Dick Lovgrens bass work - there is no going back :)

That's a hell of a statement to make! I could say the same about a hundred bands & you'd probably tell me I was wrong a hundred times.

Anyways just checked em out & honestly? I'm just getting standard metal (or whatever subdivision this happens to be) bass. Maybe I'm not listening to the right tracks - by all means PM me with examples. This isn't really my thing but I'm always ready to be turned on to new killer bass tone.

Sorry to hijack this thread, back to the lyrics!

Whoa, said the Judge to the hooker, with a nudge
I sure do think it's funny.
With all the pervs, and the kinks, and the queer rinky-dinks
Are you sure you only do it for the money?

- Gillan - Unchain Your Brain

Yep, back to the lyrics...

"I am the Lizard King, I can do anything" The Doors

"Well, I woke up this morning, I got myself a beer
Well, I woke up this morning, and I got myself a beer
The future's uncertain, and the end is always near" The Doors

"You men eat your dinner
Eat your pork and beans
I eat more chicken
Than any man ever seen, yeah, yeah" The Doors

"Yesterday don't mean jack $hit, brother" Pantera

" But that's the way I like it baby, I don't wanna live forever" Motorhead

"I'm gonna stand at the top of the world and challenge the heavens. Gonna bring you God. Gonna bring you God in the palm of the left hand black." Danzig

"I was handsome I was strong, I knew the words of every song. Did my singing please you? No, the words you sang were wrong." Leonard Cohen

"Say what you must, do all you can, break all the Fu*king rules and Go to Hell with Superman and Die like a champion, yeah hey! Band Religion

...I'm sure there are many others.

I got friends who are in prison
Friends who are dead.
I'm gonna tell ya something
That I've often said.
You know these things that happen,
That's just the way it's supposed to be.
And I can't help but wonder,
Don't ya know it coulda been me.

It Coulda Been Me- Social Distortion

You can leave it all behind
and sail to Lahaina
just like the missionaries did, so many years ago
They even brought a neon sign that said "Jesus is coming"
Brought the white man's burden down
Brought the white man's reign

Who will provide the grand design?
What is yours and what is mine?
'Cause there is no more new frontier
We have got to make it here

We satisfy our endless needs and
justify our bloody deeds,
in the name of destiny and in the name
of God

And you can see them there,
On Sunday morning
Stand up and sing about
What it's like up there
They call it paradise
I don't know why
You call someplace paradise,
kiss it goodbye
